Field recordings · Tian Shan, Kazakhstan

Real mountain water, measured before you sleep to it.

Every sound here was recorded outdoors with a microphone, not generated. Before a recording becomes an 8-hour track, we check it for sudden peaks, uneven loudness and hiss, because those are exactly what keeps a tired ear awake.

Where we record

The northern Tian Shan

Most recordings come from mountain streams and rivers in the Ile Alatau range above Almaty, with lake shores at Kapchagay for wave sounds. We record on weekdays, when the trails are empty and the valley is quiet.
